Back in Greece !

After  a crazy busy hot summer in Sweden I did pack my bags to go down to Greece , both for pleasure and some work ... took the ship to Myconos where I have spend some years of my life.. lovely to be back , walk the alleys, bump into old friends, have a coffee at the waterfront... talk, talk about everything & nothing...

Be on the beach , go to the old favourite tavernas and eat all the healthy green stuff I have been craving so long ... haven’t had the time to go down to this country where I have lived for 23 years, for 2 years because of my hips..

Anyway here I am full of life, laughter & still kicking ...

Since I am and have been extremely choosey with what I put on my plate for many years... I really would like to think that I can thank all that for speedy recovery after my surgeries and the fact that I am seldom sick !

So dear friends think wisely and clever  what you put into your system..  back to all the talk about our 2nd  brain .. oh yeah the one in our bellies..  it all comes down to  that it plays a big role in  how healthy and balanced we feel!

We really need one part of our plates to contain some fermented vegetables  our friend the “  belly brain “  just loves that ..  one of the easiest things to do is

Pickled Red Onion

1 part vinegar 12%

2 parts sugar

3 parts water

2 finely sliced red onions

Mix everything except the onions until you get the liquid clear then add the onions and put it in the  fridge for one hour at least !

Of course we can do this recipe with a lot of veggies, cucumber, carrots, cauliflower ... the list can be long ... but the most important is to eat things like this every single day ...  they will do their wonderful job  in your body , you might even look wonderful !

I am now  in Athens , have been stocking up on fresh fruit & lovely pomegranate seeds , that will be the topping on my yoghurt tonight , I know these streets so well we where living up here next to Filopappou hill  when Irida was a little girl  ,  then we moved to Aegina and after a time we did build up a cozy restaurant named Gramma  .. after nearly 10 years we left it in the hands of 2 guys from Crete.

My sites name Grammacooking.com. comes from that lovely food & art place.

I have been listening to the noise from the street here in Athens  while writing this post , bringing back a lot of memories!!

Sing , dance , hug , kiss , love and be kind.. and cook & eat the right things!
